Venue Change of Lewis-Gerber Concert for Local Fans

Bayside Corners will present the August 17 Laurie Lewis-Nina Gerber Concert adjacent to the Temperance Hall at the Bayside Grange to accommodate the number of Redwood Coast fans buying tickets to attend. It’s a delight to host these well-loved performers in Bayside.

Known for their musicianship and audience connection, friends Laurie and Nina have collaborated for over four decades! Laurie grew up in Berkeley and Nina was raised on the outskirts of Sebastopol. They are deeply rooted in the landscape and sounds of northern California.

For fiddler, guitarist, singer and songwriter Laurie Lewis bluegrass and folk music traditions are burning sources of inspiration driving her 40+ year career at the forefront of American roots music. She has twice won the International Bluegrass Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award. She was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 1995 for her duet album "The Oak and the Laurel" with Tom Rozum.

Since Nina Gerber’s accompaniment of Kate Wolf first earned her recognition, her acute skills as producer, performer, and arranger have continued to deepen. Her contributions to acoustic music have earned her a loyal following. Nina has accompanied Karla Bonoff, Greg Brown, Dave Alvin, Rosalie Sorrels, Mollie O’Brien, and Nanci Griffith.  She has a unique ability to free herself within an eclectic range of styles. Presented with folk, country, bluegrass, rock, or blues, she is able to fall into leads which have rare reverence for the true feeling of a song, always emphasizing taste over technical display. It is this integrity which makes her expressions worth intent listening.

Together, Laurie and Nina weave a rich tapestry of insightful stories, a good measure of humor, rocking headbangers, and a shared musical sensibility you won’t want to miss.

On Sunday, August 17th doors open at 3:30 p.m. with beverages and desserts available. The concert will start at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available to purchase at https://www.baysidecorners.org/tickets . Proceeds from this concert will support the ongoing repair and rehabilitation of the historic Temperance Hall so that it can become a multipurpose venue for all to enjoy. After the concert, audience members are welcome to tour the Temperance Hall next door.
